Does Makeup Cause Skin Damage

Does Make Up Cause Skin Damage?

Make up may not be damaging to your skin as long as you are wearing the right kind. You should use a make up with quality ingredients. Make sure you are using make up that won’t clog your pores (free of mineral oil, lanolin or cocoa butter). You may want something that is free of harsh chemicals, dyes and other residues. Using a makeup that contains SPF will help prevent sun damage on your face. Sun damage is critical in causing your skin to age faster. As long as you are taking care of your skin by cleansing and moisturizing before and after your make up application and you are wearing quality make up with quality ingredients, you should not have to worry about damaging your skin. You may want to try make up that contains natural ingredients; these ingredients tend to be better for your skin.

Be Beautiful on your Wedding day with these tips!

June 17th, 2009

Trish Langley, owner of My Mobile Salon Inc., is a wealth of information when it comes to bridal beauty. She travels all around Northern Virginia, working her hair and makeup magic on brides, moms and bridesmaids. She wrote a great column for our upcoming edition of Brides & Weddings of Northern Virginia, and I thought I would share some of her tips:
Makeup should be modern, natural and radiant. You should look like you – only perfectly enhanced.
Always have a trial application before the big day.

Be clear about what you are looking for with your makeup artist. Bring a photo to your consultation of a look that you like.
Your wedding makeup is NOT a good time to experiment with colors or trends.
Ask your makeup artist about long-lasting techniques.

Defining your brows will make all the difference. Have them shaped a few days prior to the wedding and fill them in, if needed, but don’t make them overpowering.
Pale lips could wash out your look. Choose a color that will emulate and enhance your natural lip color.
Use slightly more blush than you normally would.

Don’t use too much shimmer. A touch on the brow or cheekbone will do.

Yes, in order for any make-up to apply well and for the skin to look it’s absolute

Best…please moisturize! If your skin is not prepared first it will never look its best.

Nor will the makeup wear well or last all day, which is what we all want.

Preparations for a Trial Run – Bridal Makeup and Hair Tips

February 11th, 2009

Hello Brides! As most of you know, a trial run for makeup and hair is a must. That is why My Mobile Salon, Inc., Includes a trial run in our wedding packages. Now my brides sometimes ask what they need to do to prepare for the trial run. That is a great question! For makeup, you need to have a clean, moisturized face – . I also recommend that you wear a neutral top – white, off-white, or beige – no bright colors. The bright colors can reflect onto your face and influence the look of the makeup. For hair, you should have washed your hair the day before or earlier – not the day of. Yes, the dirtier the hair the better :) For both makeup and hair, it is always good to have pictures of looks you like. But remember, you may not have the same type of hair or face shape that the models in the pictures have. But that is where we come in. We can customize the look for you and give you the same feel of the look in the pictures. If you have makeup that you are “married” to, have that ready. Otherwise, we bring our own makeup kits. And have your veil and/or hair accessories ready as well. These tips will help make sure that each bride gets the most out of their trial run.
